Iceland´s WOW air will begin service to Chicago´s O´Hare International Airport (ORD) on July 13, 2016, the company said.
Tickets from O´Hare to Keflavik Airport (KEF) are on sale now for only USD 99. Additionally, for only USD 149 customers from Chicago can continue on to 23 other cities, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Copenhagen, Berlin, and Frankfurt. Service from ORD to KEF will be available four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
WOW air´s expansion to Chicago builds upon the successful launch of transatlantic services to Miami, Pittsburgh, New York, Washington D.C, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
The new O´Hare route will be serviced by the Airbus A321-300 aircrafts, acclaimed for their wider cabin, low operating costs and excellent fuel efficiency. Seat pitch will vary from 30 inches as standard to 34 inches at an additional charge.
As of spring 2017, WOW air services 32 destinations across Europe and North America including Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, and Copenhagen.
WOW currently operates six Airbus A321 aircraft, three Airbus A330-300, and two A 320-200 planes. By the end of 2017 the fleet will consist of 17 aircraft with the average age of the whole fleet only 2.5 years.
