Waterfall Security Solutions, a global leader in cybersecurity technologies for critical infrastructure and industrial control systems, has announced the deployment of its Unidirectional Security Gateway together with IBM´s QRadar® Security Intelligence solution at Dorad Energy, the company said.
Dorad is an independent power producer serving end users throughout Israel, fueled primarily by natural gas.
Roni Moran, Chief Information Officer of Dorad Energy, said, “Installing the IBM System QRadar provides us with insightful visibility into network security incidents that are critical to our power plant´s operations.
Deploying this solution, together with Waterfall´s Unidirectional Gateway, augmented our protection by eliminating threats of remote cyberattacks from entering our SCADA system, and potentially causing serious damage to the electric grid. Our multi-fold approach keeps our end users´ safety uppermost in mind.”
The IBM® QRadar® SIEM Security Intelligence and Sense Analytics products protect assets and information from advanced threats by consolidating log events and network flow data from thousands of devices, endpoints and applications distributed throughout a network. It normalizes and correlates raw data to identify security offenses, and uses an advanced Sense Analytics engine to baseline normal behavior, detect anomalies, uncover advanced threats, and remove false positives.
Waterfall´s Unidirectional Security Gateway is an evolutionary alternative to firewalls, protecting the safety and reliability of industrial systems in ways that firewalls simply cannot match. The Gateway creates an impassable, physical barrier eliminating the possibility of external online attacks, while enabling business processes to proceed as usual.
Waterfall´s Unidirectional Gateway family of products are recognized to reduce the cost and complexity of compliance with NERC CIP, NRC, NIST, ANSSI, ISA, and other standards, regulations and best practices. The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) December 2015 report, “Seven Strategies to Defend Industrial Control Systems,” recommends unidirectional communications in three of its seven strategies to protect industrial control systems (ICS) from cyberattacks.
Dorad Energy Ltd. is a private energy company in Israel, jointly owned by EAPC, Zorlu, Edelcom Edeltech group and Dori Energy Infrastructures. In November 2010, Dorad Energy achieved financial closing and in March 2011 started constructing the largest private power station based on natural gas with a production capacity of up to 860 megawatts and the first to sell primarily to end-users. The construction works ended with the commencement of commercial operation in May 2014 and the company was on its way as an IPP – an Independent Power Producer.
Waterfall Security Solutions is the global leader in industrial cybersecurity technology. Waterfall products, based on its innovative unidirectional security gateway technology, represent an evolutionary alternative to firewalls. The company´s growing list of customers includes national infrastructures, power plants, nuclear plants, off and on shore oil and gas facilities, refineries, manufacturing plants, utility companies, and many more. Deployed throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Waterfall products support the widest range of industrial remote monitoring platforms, applications, databases and protocols in the market.
