Washington, Perth Airport to attract airlines with USD 30m tourism fund

Washington State government and Perth Airport have announced they have committed USD 30 million to a war chest designed to attract new international airlines to boost tourism, the company said.

The funding is part of a two-year action plan to make Washington the western gateway to Australia.

Funding would be used for destination marketing agreements with individual airlines to create demand for the new routes.

Tourism experts hope China Eastern Airlines will confirm a commitment for flight service from Shanghai to Perth. Both primary Japan-based airlines are interested in Perth.
