Virgin Atlantic names successor for chief executive

The Miami Herald has reported that Virgin Atlantic has announced Shai Weiss, its chief commercial officer, will take the helm of the UK carrier after CEO Craig Kreeger retires at year-end, the company said.

Weiss has been with Virgin Atlantic since August 2012. He became finance chief in July 2014 and assumed his current role in January last year.

The airline says its expanded joint-venture partnership with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM is “at the heart of” the new plan.

Virgin Atlantic was founded by British billionaire Richard Branson, who remains president. The airline had 2017 revenue of 2.7 billion pounds ($3.6 billion US).
