Amsterdam-based telecom services provider VimpelCom Ltd. (NASDAQ: VIP) has announced the country winners of its Eurasia Mobile Challenge, the company said.
Out of over 550 teams of young entrepreneurs who signed up to participate in the competition, national juries selected the top three winners from each participating country.

The Eurasia Mobile Challenge, launched in September, is an initiative of VimpelCom´s Make Your Mark program and is run in partnership with Huawei Technologies Co, Ltd. As part of the competition, young entrepreneurs were tasked to come up with the industry´s next big mobile solution in one of the following categories: “entertainment and culture,” “environmental benefit,” “social benefit” or “other.”
The teams were coached and judged on innovativeness, relevance to the local community, scalability, originality, and business model feasibility by successful local and international entrepreneurs, as well as VimpelCom leaders.
All 21 winning country teams are invited to take part in the regional Eurasia Mobile Challenge final in Moscow, on 27-28 January 2016 where they will deliver presentations. Following the regional final, three winners from the Eurasia region will participate in the Global Mobile Challenge final in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress, 22-26 February 2016.
