UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX), has reported it plans to deliver new wheels and brakes to the US Air Force (USAF) for 475 of its F-15 aircraft, the company said.
The USD22 million US Air Force contract was awarded in November 2014.
UTC said new carbon brakes will provide longer brake life and boltless wheels, which employ a lock-ring design, are expected to lower maintenance time and cost.
The equipment will be offered in two versions–one for use on the F-15C/D aircraft, and the other for use on the heavier F-15E aircraft. Both are similar designs and have many parts in common. First deliveries are scheduled to begin in August.
