United reports record January 2017 mainline performance

United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) has achieved the company´s best ever January completion factor on mainline flights in January 2017, the airline said.

UAL´s January 2017 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased 4.0% and consolidated capacity (available seat miles) increased 4.7% versus January 2016. Its January 2017 consolidated load factor decreased 0.5 points compared to January 2016.

Over 3.0 points of capacity growth in January 2017 was attributed to a higher completion percentage compared to January 2016 due to fewer winter weather disruptions in the month.

Additional mainline achievements and records for January 2017 include the airline´s best ever January completion factor, and six days with 100% departure completion, the most the company has ever had in one month.

United Airlines and United Express operate more than 4,500 flights a day to 339 airports across five continents. In 2016, United and United Express operated more than 1.6 million flights carrying more than 143 million customers. The airline operates 737 mainline aircraft and its United Express partners operate 483 regional aircraft, and is a founding member of Star Alliance, which provides service to 192 countries via 28 member airlines.
