Turkish Airlines (THY), the national flag carrier of Turkey, has announced that it served 2,340,448 passengers on 15,048 flights over the Islamic holiday of during the nine-day Qurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice) between August 17-26, the company said.
Turkish Airlines carried 43.2 million passengers from January to July this year and achieved an 81.2 percent seat occupancy rate, the airline announced in August.
In the first half of the year, THY´s total revenues recorded a 30 percent surge compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 6 billion thanks to significant increases in passenger and cargo revenues. The company aims to reach USD 12.5 billion in sales revenues by the end of this year.
Flying to 303 destinations in 120 countries, THY holds the title of the airline flying to the most destinations in the world. Last year, it served 68.6 million passengers, marking a 9.3 percent hike compared to the previous year and made TL 639 million (USD 139.15 million) in net profit.
