TSA PreCheck, TWIC programs to be offered at Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration

The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) and MorphoTrust USA has announced a partnership to include IdentoGO centers at six MDOT MVA locations in Maryland, the companies said.

The services offered by IdentoGO include: TSA PreCheck® enrollment, which allows US citizens to enjoy expedited security screenings within US airports, and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), which is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation´s maritime facilities and vessels.

The official opening of the Annapolis location was held today, August 9. Two other locations, Waldorf and Salisbury, also have IdentoGO locations open for customer enrollments. The other three offices that will include IdentoGO locations later this year include Frederick, Gaithersburg and Glen Burnie.

Maryland´s MVA joins the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in offering these services at traditional motor vehicle service centers.

TSA PreCheck® is an expedited security screening program that connects travelers departing from more than 200 US airports with smarter security and a more convenient travel experience. TSA PreCheck® travelers do not need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts or light jackets at security checkpoints. TSA PreCheck® helps take the stress out of travel for more than five million travelers who have enrolled in the program.

The TWIC program provides a tamper-resistant biometric credential to maritime workers requiring unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities, outer continental shelf facilities and vessels regulated under the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, or MTSA, and all US Coast Guard credentialed merchant mariners. To obtain a TWIC, an individual must provide biographic and biometric information such as fingerprints, site for a digital photograph and successfully pass a security threat assessment conducted by TSA.
