TOT launches new gigabit broadband access service

MaxLinear, Inc. (NYSE:MXL), a provider of radio frequency (RF), analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for the connected home, wired and wireless infrastructure, and industrial and multimarket applications, has announced that TOT Public Company Limited, the largest fixed-line service provider in Thailand, has launched Super Speed by Giga Wire, a new gigabit broadband Internet service that is powered by MaxLinear G.hn technology, the company said.

The new service uses equipment developed by ZARAM Technology, a supplier of broadband networking equipment based in South Korea.

G.hn is an ITU-T networking standard that delivers data rates up to 2 Gbps and can operate over a variety of wired media. Multiple service providers today rely on G.hn technology to deliver broadband services to millions of users in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

The new Super Speed by Giga Wire broadband service offered by TOT will enable businesses and consumers to enjoy superfast Internet and Wi-Fi service, HD and 4K video, online gaming, cloud storage with high-speed uploads and high-quality video conferencing.

TOT operated as the Telephone Organization of Thailand for 48 years before being transformed into TOT Public company Limited on July 31, 2002. TOT remains a state enterprise of which the Ministry of Finance is the sole shareholder.
