Teamsters joins with Association of Flight Attendants to appeal to US Treasury to save Miami Air jobs

Charter airline Miami Air International, with 350 employees represented by the Airline Professionals Association, Teamsters Local 1224, has announced that, barring federal intervention, it will liquidate due to the impact of COVID-19, the company said.

The Teamsters has joined with the Association of Flight Attendants CWA to implore US Department of the Treasury to save the jobs of the employees. According to the Teamsters Airline Division Director Miami Air is still waiting to find out if their application has been approved.

Miami Air filed for bankruptcy on March 24 as a result of the pandemic, the same day the Senate finalized the CARES Act.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million men and women throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
