SriLankan Air appoints group chief operating/finance officer

SriLankan Airlines has announced it has appointed Vipula Gunatilleka as the Group Chief Operating and Finance Officer, the company said.

In his capacity as GCO and FO, he will report to the Chairman and the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the overall management of the airline.

Prior to joining SriLankan, Gunatilleka served as a been a board member and the CFO of TAAG Angola Airlines. He was initially nominated to the board of directors of TAAG by Emirates Airline when Emirates took over the management of TAAG. He was reappointed to the board by the Government of Angola when the partnership with Emirates ended in July 2017.

Gunatilleka held the position of CFO at SriLankan Airlines when the Airline was managed by Emirates.

British Airways will shortly become the only airline to offer a direct flight from the UK to Pittsburgh. From April 2, 2019, the airline will launch a year round four-per-week service to the Pennsylvanian city from Heathrow.

British Airways will launch 16 new routes across the globe this year including direct flights to Nashville that started in March. These new routes come as the airline rolls out a £4.5 billion, five-year customer investment plan, with a focus on excellence in the premium cabins and more choice and quality for all its customers.
