Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE: SPR) has announced that utility regulators at Kansas Corporation Commission have approved a 10-year agreement to convert renewable wind-generated electricity for its 12.8 million SQ Wichita Kansas aerospace manufacturing site, the company said.
The agreement was filed jointly by the company and Evergy, Inc. and provides an updated electric rate structure. Spirit has agreed to purchase Kansas wind-generated electricity, continue investing in capital improvements and make efforts to maintain stable or expanded operations in Wichita.
The Wichita site produces large structural components, such as fuselages and engine nacelles for military and commercial aircraft.
Spirit AeroSystems designs and builds aerostructures for both commercial and defense customers.
