Southwest Airlines reports April traffic

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) has reported its April and year-to-date 2018 preliminary traffic statistics, the company said.

The company flew 11.2 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in April 2018, a slight decrease from the 11.2 billion RPMs flown in April 2017. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 1.5 percent to 13.6 billion in April 2018, compared with April 2017 ASMs of 13.4 billion. The April 2018 load factor was 82.5 percent, compared with 84.0 percent in April 2017.

Southwest Airlines Co. operates a passenger airline that provides scheduled air transportation services in the United States and near-international markets. As of December 31, 2017, the company operated a total of 706 Boeing 737 aircraft; and served 100 destinations in 40 states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as well as 10 near-international countries, including Mexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Aruba, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Belize, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, Turks, and Chaos. The company was founded in 1967 and is based in Dallas, Texas.
