Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) has announced the first round of direct negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with Southwest Airlines (SWA), the company said.
The pilots´ existing contract officially becomes amendable on August 31, 2020 but allows for a six-month early opener phase of negotiations for a new contract, which the union and the airline have agreed to exercise.
The current contract was ratified by SWAPA membership overwhelmingly in November of 2016, after four years of negotiations which included ten months of federally mediated talks.
Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) is a non-profit employee organization and the sole bargaining unit for the more than 9,900 pilots of Southwest Airlines.
