Sonus integrates policy and signaling in service provider networks

Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SONS) has introduced a new centralized signaling and routing control (CSRC) solution for service providers by integrating its diameter signaling controller (DSC) with its centralized policy and routing engine (PSX) to decrease the complexity and increase the speed of converging legacy and next-generation signaling networks, the company said.

The solution provides service providers with a unified number portability database across SIP, ENUM and inline fixed signaling modes to reduce costs and improve network efficiency. The solution enables single-point configuration control and consolidation of legacy, current and future database translation services.

The company said business mergers, technology transitions and the introduction of next-generation networks have left service providers with multiple signaling and routing solutions that are difficult and costly to maintain. With Sonus´ integrated solution, the Sonus PSX brings policy and routing control functionality to the Sonus DSC, delivering scalability and reliability in wireline and wireless environments. This unified solution future-proofs service providers´ networks to address the expanding 4G/LTE market.

The combination of Sonus´ DSC and PSX unifies policy control and signaling for multiple types of legacy and next-generation signaling protocols. The solution enhances number portability functionality by supporting SS7, SIP, ENUM and Diameter.

Sonus provides secure and intelligent cloud communications through cloud-based
SIP and 4G/VoLTE solutions to its customers by enabling and securing mission critical traffic for VoIP, video, IM and online collaboration.
