Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC. has announced that through continued sustainability efforts, the company now ranks at No. 9 on the US Environmental Protection Agency´s (EPA) Green Power Partnership Top 30 Tech & Telecom list and No. 57 on the National Top 100 List, the company said.
The rankings represent the largest green power users among technology and telecommunications partners and overall partners, respectively, within EPA´s Green Power Partnership.
Each year Samsung offsets a percentage of its energy consumption with renewable wind energy. The company is currently supporting nearly 145 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power production annually. According to the EPA, Samsung´s green power purchases are equivalent to the annual electricity use of more than 12,000 average American homes. Samsung´s choice to use green power helps advance the voluntary market for green power and development of those sources.
