Rise Broadband expands fixed wireless network

Fixed wireless Internet and digital phone provider Rise Broadband has expanded its communications network in ten market areas in conjunction with the Federal Communications Commission´s Connect America Fund program, the company said.

As a result, more residents and businesses in these locales are able to get high-speed access to data, streaming, shopping and other on-line activities.

Rise Broadband´s enhanced market areas include: Texas, Nebraska, Kansas,
and Iowa.

In 2015, Rise began upgrading its markets to Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology, providing speeds up to 50 Mbps (megabits per second). To date, more than 40 markets have been enhanced and others are scheduled over the next nine to 15 months.

The term “fixed wireless” means Rise Broadband delivers Internet and digital phone service to permanent structures (home and businesses) using wireless spectrum (airwaves) — not fiber, cable or satellite technology — to connect customers. The company also offers DISH and Direct TV service throughout its coverage area.
