RELM Wireless Corporation (NYSE MKT: RWC) said it has received orders totaling approximately USD2.2 million from a new state public safety customer in Oregon.
The orders include KNG-series mobile radios and related accessories that will be deployed throughout the state.
The initial order, which totals approximately USD1.4 million, is anticipated to be fulfilled in the fourth quarter 2015. The remaining orders totaling approximately USD0.8 million address the agency´s requirements for 2016 through 2019. Although these orders are considered firm, they do not specify the precise date for delivery in each year.
APCO Project 25 (P25), which requires interoperability among compliant equipment regardless of the manufacturer, was established by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials and is approved by the US Department of Homeland Security. The shift toward interoperability gained momentum as a result of significant communications failures in critical emergency situations. RELM was one of the first manufacturers to develop P25-compliant technology.
