RAD, the provider of secure communications solutions for critical infrastructure, has announced the release of the Megaplex-1, a compact, highly reliable multiservice pseudowire access gateway that addresses the needs of critical infrastructure utilities, transportation and government network operators migrating to next-generation Carrier Ethernet or IP/MPLS communications, the company said.
RAD is introducing at #UTCAL its new Megaplex-1 gateway. It helps utilities and other critical infrastructure providers make a smooth, phased transition from legacy communications technologies to new packet-based networks.
Critical infrastructure network operators have relied on legacy time-division multiplexing (TDM) communications for decades, but equipment manufacturers are discontinuing the use of this technology and forcing a move to packet communications. The Megaplex-1´s pseudowire capabilities emulate TDM connections over packet networks, allowing continued use of legacy equipment and enabling a phased migration to packet-based communications.
