PSA Airlines has increased wages for first-year pilots by 56 percent and added an increased sign-on bonus for new recruits and retention bonuses for first officers and captains, the company said.
The airline said starting pay for new-hire first officers increases from USD24.62 per hour to USD38.50 per hour. All new-hire pilots receive a USD15,000 sign-on bonus with an additional USD5,000 for new-hire pilots with CRJ experience. PSA said it is instituting a USD7,500 retention bonus for all captains currently employed with the company.
PSA Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group (NASDAQ: AAL), and has doubled its size from 49 aircraft to 115 aircraft and will continue its growth as it adds 150 Bombardier CRJ aircraft to the fleet. The company´s 2,500 employees operate nearly 700 daily flights to nearly 90 destinations.
