International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (IAG) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pratt & Whitney for the PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine to power 47 firm Airbus A320neo family aircraft, the company said.
Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
IAG is the parent company of Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling.
Pratt & Whitney provides design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units. United Technologies Corp., based in Farmington, Connecticut, provides high-technology systems and services to the building and aerospace industries.
