Plume Design, Inc., the pioneer of Adaptive WiFiâ¢, has secured USD 37.5 million funding from new investors Comcast Cable, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, and Presidio Ventures – an affiliate of J:COM, Japan´s largest cable operator, the company said.
Existing investors Liberty Global Ventures, Shaw Ventures, and Jackson Square Ventures also participated in Plume´s financing round, bringing the total equity funding in the company to over USD 63 million.
The investment will be used to accelerate the deployment and integration of Adaptive WiFi⢠in Internet Service Provider (ISP) networks and third party hardware, introduction of new products, and for Plume´s expansion in Silicon Valley and Europe.
In December 2016 Plume launched a disruptive new approach that drastically improves the reliability, consistency, and coverage of in-home WiFi. At the core of Plume´s offering is Adaptive WiFiâ¢, where decisions on WiFi channel, frequency, client connections, and whole-home coverage topology are decided both in real time and preemptively by the Plume Cloud.
Plume Adaptive WiFi⢠can also manage and optimize performance across multiple apartments simultaneously in a Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) environment, an important consideration for ISPs. Multiple tier-1 operators around the globe are in the process of rolling out Plume.
Plume is the pioneer of Adaptive WiFiâ¢, the world´s first self-optimizing WiFi delivering the most reliable and consistent Internet experience to every corner of the home. Plume is driven by the Plume Cloud, a powerful cloud-based control plane, and is the most advanced, resilient home WiFi solution due to its ability to dynamically adapt and respond to changing network loads and interference. Plume´s own hardware comes as beautiful, affordable access points called Pods that are placed in every room to give the broadest coverage possible. The Plume Agent can be integrated into third party hardware for connection to the Plume Cloud.
