OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI) said it has announced the OV10823, a new sensor designed for next-generation security and surveillance systems.
The 1/2.6-inch CameraChipâ¢ sensor utilizes OmniVision´s 1.4-micron OmniBSI-2â¢ pixel architecture to deliver best-in-class low-light performance and ultra high definition 4K output. These features can enable advanced surveillance functions like automatic tracking and detection, high quality digital zoom, and video analytics.
The OV10823 is a native 16:9 CameraChip sensor that can support ultra-high resolution 4K video at 30 frames per second (FPS) with electronic image stabilization (EIS), or binned 1080p high definition (HD) video at 60 FPS. The sensor´s 4K resolution and 1.4-micron pixels, when paired with fisheye lenses, make it ideally suited for IP cameras and commercial surveillance systems that focus on high resolution and wide-area coverage. The sensor´s low-light sensitivity provides further advantages as well, such as crisp, clear digital zoom.
The OV10823 offers a zero-degree chief ray angle (CRA) and is available in a chip-scale package (CSP). The sensor is currently in volume production.
