Silver Spring Networks, Inc. (NYSE: SSNI) has been selected as a solutions provider by NRTC, which represents more than 1,500 rural electric and telephone utilities and affiliates in 48 states, collectively serving approximately 20m homes and 50m residents, the company said.
Under the agreement, NRTC will offer Silver Spring´s high-performance, multi-application Gen5 platform to its electric utility membership. The agreement will allow NRTC to offer reliable two-way advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and other future smart grid and related applications.
With over 25.5m enabled devices delivered on five continents, Silver Spring works with cooperative, public power and municipal utilities including American Municipal Power, Choptank Electric Cooperative, City Utilities of Springfield, CPS Energy, Modesto Irrigation District, New Braunfels Utilities, Sacramento Municipal Utility District and Snohomish County Public Utility District, to deliver its proven, reliable and IPv6 standards-based platform.
NRTC has provided smart grid and AMI solutions to its members for 15 years, deploying nearly 3.5m endpoints using a variety of solutions and technologies.
