Northrop Grumman picks CPI Aerostructures to supply wing components

CPI Aerostructures, Inc. (NYSE MKT: CVU) has been selected by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) to supply structural components and kits for the Outer Wing Panel (OWP) on the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft that will be manufactured for Japan, the company said.

The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is the US Navy´s primary AEW&C aircraft.

CPI Aero will be responsible for component source selection, supply chain management, delivery of kits, and will provide manufacturing engineering services to Northrop Grumman during the integration of the components into the OWP. The contract from Northrop Grumman is valued at between USD 25 million and USD 30 million.

The Pentagon announced on June 1, 2015, that the US Department of State approved the sale of four Northrop Grumman E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft to Japan. The OWP will be a combination of new structural components and components that are common with the current OWP. CPI Aero has produced OWP kits for the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye and the C-2A Greyhound aircraft since June 2008.
