NodeSource and OpenFin have partnered to enhance OpenFin´s HTML5 container for finance, the companies said.
NodeSource´s engineers will become committers to OpenFin´s open-source project, focusing on the security of Node.js, which is embedded in OpenFin´s electron-based container. Joe McCann, CEO of NodeSource will join OpenFin´s Industry Advisory Board, which includes 13 large financial institutions and trading platforms.
OpenFin´s HTML5 container technology enables web applications to run outside-the-browser with native experience and desktop integration. 30 leading financial institutions and trading platforms now use OpenFin to deploy desktop applications to thousands of front-office users at 44 sell-side firms and over 250 buy-side firms.
Node.js enables access to the desktop operating system and automatic download of unverified third-party code at runtime, both of which create enormous security risks on financial desktops.
