NASA to test multiple drones flying beyond line of sight

NASA has reported it plans to test five drones from it´s research platform in Reno, Nevada on October 19, the administration said.

During this test, the five drones will fly beyond the line of sight of their operators to test the planning, tracking and alerting capabilities of NASA´s UTM platform, a critical step in the development of the technology and procedures for the safe management of drone air traffic. From this test, NASA, in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration, will collect data critical to refining its UTM research.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government responsible for the civilian space program as well as aeronautics and aerospace research.
