MTS expands aerospace, wind energy portfolio with acquisition of R&D Engineering

MTS Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: MTSC), a Minnesota-based simulation systems and sensors provider has announced it has agreed to acquire the operating entities of Danish engineering firm R and D to expand global test and simulation technology base and market presence for wind energy and aerospace markets, the company said.

Following closing, the R and D operations will be reported as part of the MTS Test and Simulation segment. Once integrated, R and D will leverage MTS´ global sales and service network to further accelerate growth, particularly in the US, China and India.

The operating entities of R and D include R and D Test Systems, R and D Engineering, R and D Steel, R and D Prague, RGDK Engineering Private Ltd. and R and D Tools and Structures.
R and D, a Danish company founded in 2005, provides design and manufacture of test systems that accurately simulate the extreme operating environments often encountered by large, rotating structures, such as wind turbines, and aircraft engine propulsion systems.

MTS Systems Corp.´s testing hardware, software and services solutions help customers accelerate and improve their design, development and manufacturing processes and are used for determining the mechanical behavior of materials, products and structures.
