The Associated Press has reported a memorial service was held for the 42 people killed in a plane crash northeast of Falls City, Nebraska 50 years ago, the company said.
Braniff Airways Flight 250 from Kansas City to Omaha crashed on the night of August 6, 1966 in stormy weather, killing all passengers and crew members aboard. It remains Nebraska´s worst commercial airline disaster.
The National Transportation Safety Board blamed the weather for the crash, but found the crew could have avoided the storm if it had been alerted about its intensity.
