MapD has named industry veteran Jonathan Symonds as VP of marketing, the company said.
Symonds brings over 16 years of enterprise software marketing experience to MapD and will scale the company´s marketing and demand generation efforts following their USD10M Series A round.
Founded in 2013, MapD has pioneered an analytics platform that can query and visualize large datasets – up to 100x faster than other systems. By leveraging the massive parallelism of commodity GPUs, it can execute SQL queries over multibillion row datasets with millisecond response times, and optionally visualize the results using the rendering capabilities of the GPUs.
Symonds joins MapD from machine intelligence leader Ayasdi, where he served as the Senior Director of Strategic Marketing. Prior to Ayasdi, Symonds was the EVP of Marketing at advertising analytics provider Ace Metrix and the VP of Strategic Marketing at 2Wire. He earned his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his MBA from Cornell University´s Johnson School of Management.
Joining Symonds on the team is Rebecca Kao, a digital marketing expert who will serve as the Director of Marketing. Rebecca joins the MapD team from OgilvyOne where she most recently served as the Director of Marketing Analytics in the Singapore office.
