Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Macquarie Group, has announced the hiring of two senior contributors to the financial technology vertical within its Financial Institutions Group, the company said.
John Katzenmeyer has been appointed Managing Director and Eric Varney has been appointed Senior Vice President. Both will work alongside Peter Davis, US Head of Financial Technology at Macquarie Capital, as well as Macquarie Capital teams in Europe, Australia and Asia. Messrs. Katzenmeyer and Varney will be based in San Francisco.
Katzenmeyer joins Macquarie Capital from Stifel Financial Corp., where he was Global Head of Financial Technology for the past five years. Prior to Stifel, Katzenmeyer led the financial technology practice at UBS and has previous experience at Banc of America Securities and Credit Suisse First Boston. Katzenmeyer has nearly 20 years of advisory experience in financial technology.
Varney also joins Macquarie Capital from Stifel, where he covered the financial technology sector for the past five years. Varney brings more than 12 years of experience in the technology and financial services sectors, with previous experience at UBS and Capital One.
