Keepixo and Broadpeak have integrated Keepixo´s 4K encoder with Broadpeak´s nanoCDN⢠multicast ABR technology, the companies said.
As household penetration of Ultra HD 4K TVs grows, OTT service providers will increasingly include 4K content in their streaming offerings creating the need for high quality UHD encoders with support for Adaptive Bitrate (ABR) protocol. On the other hand, this will put an increasing strain on network infrastructures to deliver high bitrate content using the ABR HTTP protocols.
Keepixo´s AL2000-UHD platform addresses service providers´ needs for high quality, multi-profile encoders. It comes in a compact 1U form factor and encodes content into HEVC Main 10 profile with optional support for HDR. Output is available in either IPTV or OTT formats. When used in OTT applications the AL2000-UHD also features a built-in packager which generates an output stream compliant with popular streaming protocols such as Apple HLS and MPEG-DASH.
Using nanoCDN technology, service providers are able to cost-effectively manage the consumption peaks of live multiscreen services for millions of simultaneous viewers using only a few megabits per second from their network. Through the power of multicast, nanoCDN makes live HTTP video delivery to any device truly scalable, turning millions of broadband gateways or STBs into active components of an operator´s content delivery infrastructure.
Keepixo, the spin-off of Allegro DVT´s broadcast business, provides software-based and cloud-ready head-end solutions for IPTV & OTT. Keepixo offers live encoders, file-based video transcoders and delivery solutions featuring advanced functions such as Catch-Up, Start-Over and nPVR.
Broadpeak designs and manufactures video delivery components for content providers and network service providers deploying IPTV, cable, OTT and mobile services. It is headquartered in Rennes, France.
