J.B. Hunt Transport CMO gets award

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: JBHT) announced Chief Marketing Officer Shelley Simpson was named the recipient of the 2016 “Distinguished Women in Logistics” Award at the Transportation Intermediaries Association´s (TIA) 2016 “Capital Ideas” Conference and Exhibition in San Antonio, Texas, the copmany said.

Presented by TMW Systems and Truckstop.com on behalf of the Women In Trucking Association (WIT), the “Distinguished Women in Logistics” Award recognizes the vital roles of women leaders in the dynamic and increasingly influential field of transportation and logistics. In addition to leading businesses or operating units, finalists demonstrate superior leadership within their company as well as other professional, educational, or philanthropic organizations.

Simpson first joined J.B. Hunt in 1994 as a customer service representative and currently serves as the executive vice president, chief marketing officer, and president of integrated capacity solutions and truckload.

As chief marketing officer, Simpson guides the sales and marketing strategy for all aspects of the company. Since her appointment in 2011, J.B. Hunt has grown in revenue from USD4.5 billion to USD6.2 billion.

In her role as president of integrated capacity solutions (ICS) and truckload, Simpson emphasizes developing talented and passionate employees. In the last year, she elevated engagement among truckload office employees by 30 percent, improved its operating income by 82 percent, and increased fleet productivity. Today, ICS is proud to be in the top five of third party logistics companies in the trucking industry.
