Norwegian air traffic management technology firm Indra Navia said it completed a successful factory acceptance test for LVNL´s new Garex voice communication and control system.
The nationwide Garex VCCS will be installed at the Area Control Center at Schiphol East and at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Rotterdam The Hague Airport, Groningen Airport Eelde, and Maastricht/Aachen Airport Beek, the firm said.
Indra Navia said the system consists of 143 operational controller positions, in addition to a simulator and a test and development system.
With project completion scheduled for 2014, this VCCS is a part of the full voice communication system replacement program at five LVNL sites and their associated radio ground stations. Included in this digital end-to-end voice communication solution are Indra Navia´s Garex 220 switching systems and T6 air/ground radios supplied by Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems (NYSE: NOC).
When completed, the programme will provide fully integrated air traffic control voice communications across the Netherlands.
LVNL provides air traffic services in the Dutch civil airspace. LVNL´s area control unit handles about 500,000 flights yearly and its TWR and APP control units handle about 400,000 flights yearly.
