ICMA-RC has introduced two enhancements to its mobile app: a text messaging feature and plan-level customization with both components designed for state and local government retirement plan sponsor and participant clients, the company said.
ICMA-RC´s TextAccess feature allows a participant to text a keyword and receive account updates via text. Available updates include account balance, contribution amount, and rate of return.
ICMA-RC´s enhanced mobile app has an added feature that displays unique, plan-specific content such as custom branding, direct links to the plan´s website and multiple ways to contact an ICMA-RC representative.
Putting mobile education and information within participants´ reach is a key focus for ICMA-RC, as it is critical to serving public sector employees. ICMA-RC identified that 65 percent of those it serves in the public sector have occupations where they are away from their desks. Public sector occupations such as public safety, public works, parks and recreation, and others spend most of their time on location, serving their communities. The emphasis on field work makes strong mobile solutions critical for success in helping public sector employees save toward a secure retirement.
