Icelandair offers flight bookings through Facebook messenger

Icelandair has offered passengers the option of booking transatlantic flights through Facebook messenger, the company said.

The Facebook messenger stopover bot is an example of conversational commerce. Available 24/7, the new bot brings the point of sale directly to the customer. The stopover bot is offers book and search capabilities and answers commonly asked questions with answers that combine text, photos and video.

The bot can, together with booking and search functionality, answer commonly asked questions with quick, content rich answers combining text, photos and even video.

Icelandair offers service to Iceland from the US and Canada and connections to Scandinavia, the UK and continental Europe through its hub at Keflavik International Airport.
