VMware (NYSE: VMW) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) have partnered to expand the availability of cloud services that enable organizations to move enterprise workloads to the cloud, the companies said.
IBM and VMware said they set out to tackle the challenge of extending existing VMware workloads from on-premises environments to the cloud without incurring the cost and risk associated with retooling operations, re-architecting applications and re-designing security policies.
The introduction of VMware Cloud Foundation combines VMware´s compute, storage and network virtualization solutions into an integrated platform. IBM said it is training more than 4,000 service professionals with the expertise required to provide clients with VMware solutions.
VMware provides cloud infrastructure and business mobility that help customers accelerate their digital transformation. The company had 2015 revenues of USD6.6 billion.
