Huawei is releasing ultra-large port non-blocking wavelength adding/dropping technology (also known as ADWSS) and corresponding optical node architecture, the company said.
With the rapid increase in data traffic and the development of software-defined networking (SDN) technology, flexible grooming of optical-layer node services is now crucial. At the moment, many independent optical modules are required to construct colorless, directionless, and contentionless optical nodes. For example, at least 8 multicast switch (MCS) modules, 64 optical amplifier (OA) modules, and 128 fiber connections are required for an 8-degree node, which are expensive, have low integrity, and poor flexibility and maintainability.
