Huawei said it has launched a 2Tbps router line card on its NE5000E Core Router at Huawei IP GALA 2015.
The new line card provides higher port density and meets carriers´ requirements for backbone networks in the ultra-broadband era and further consolidates Huawei´s leadership in the high-end router field.
The rapid adoption of intelligent terminals and the evolution of network business models, mobile broadband, high definition (HD) videos, and cloud services pose challenges to carrier´s backbone networks. Carriers urgently need to improve the bearing capability of backbone networks to facilitate the development of ultra-wideband services.
The 2Tbps router line card can support high density 100GE, 40GE and 10GE. With the new line card, NE5000E delivers superior performance — 32Tbps per chassis, while the power consumption is as low as 0.8W/G, which helps to dramatically save operational costs.
