Hortonworks Q1 2016 revenue up 85%

Hortonworks, Inc.® (NASDAQ: HDP) reported total GAAP revenue was USD41.3 million for the first quarter of 2016, an increase of 85 percent compared to the first quarter of 2015.

Gross billings were USD53.7 million for the first quarter of 2016, a 91 percent increase over gross billings of USD28.1 million in the same period last year.

Total GAAP gross profit was USD25.0 million for the first quarter of 2016, compared to gross profit of USD10.9 million in the same period last year. Non-GAAP gross profit for the first quarter of 2016 was USD26.3 million compared to USD11.1 million in the first quarter of 2015. Non-GAAP gross margin was 64 percent for the first quarter of 2016, compared to 50 percent during the same period last year.

GAAP operating loss for the first quarter of 2016 totaled USD65.3 million, compared to a loss of USD40.9 million during the first quarter last year. Non-GAAP operating loss for the first quarter of 2016 was USD34.9 million, compared to a loss of USD32.8 million for the same period last year.
