The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ: GT) has been selected by The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) to provide main nose and landing gear tires for its new 777X aircraft, which is scheduled for delivery in 2019, the company said.
Building on the success of the Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliner, the Boeing 777X will be the largest twin-engine jet in the world, according to Boeing officials.
Goodyear will supply its Flight Radial tire for the new aircraft, the company´s most advanced aviation product, incorporating Goodyear Featherweight Alloy Core Bead Technology. The tire is built with enhanced rubber that offers dimensional stability, longer service life and increased cut resistance.
As of Dec. 1, 2015, the Boeing 777X program has received orders and commitments for 306 airplanes.
