GOL reports 21% decrease in May air traffic

GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.A. (NYSE: GOL) has reported a 21.3 percent decrease in the total volume of departures in the system, and a 21.2 percent decrease in the total number of seats available during May 2016, the company said.

In the year-to-date, the company reported both departures and seats available fell by 13.4 percent.

In the domestic market, GOL reduced its supply by 6.3 percent in May and 6.6 percent in the first five months over the same periods the year before. The domestic demand decreased by 7.7 percent in May and 8.8 percent in the year to date, with respective load factors of 75.8 percent and 76.8 percent.

GOL said its international market supply and demand fell by 8.8 percent and 8.4 percent year-on-year, respectively, while the load factor increased by 0.3 p.p. to 67.6 percent. In the first five months, supply declined by 16.5 percent and demand decreased by 11.4 percent, giving a load factor of 75.6 percent, 4.4 p.p. higher than in the same period in 2015.
