GOL begins operations with Internet on board

GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.A. ( NYSE: GOL), a Brazilian air transportation group, has informed shareholders that it has begun operations with Internet on board, the company said.

The first commercial flight with this connection was between Congonhas-Brasilia-Congonhas.

Equipped with 2Ku satellite communication technology antenna, the aircraft (Boeing 737-800 with registration prefix PR-GUK) will be used throughout GOL´s entire domestic and international route network. The company said its entire fleet will be equipped with on board Internet by October 2018.

The addition of Internet is being carried out by GOL´s maintenance center, in Confins, responsible for the installation of the system, already approved by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration, the United States´ government agency responsible for regulating civil aviation) and the ANAC (Brazil´s National Civil Aviation Agency).

Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes provides regular and non-regular flight transportation services for passengers, cargoes, and mailbags in Brazil and internationally. The company operates in two segments, flight transportation and Smiles Loyalty Program. As of December 31, 2015, it operated a fleet of 144 aircraft, which included 98 aircraft under operating leases and 46 aircraft under finance leases. Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A. was founded in 2001 and is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
