A personal genomics company has selected Zayo for dark fiber and wavelength connectivity, Zayo said.
The solution leverages Zayo´s existing fiber network, including dense metro fiber in a major West Coast market.
Over the past five years, advances in DNA sequencing technology have made genomic analysis more efficient and cost effective. As a result, genomics is beginning to be used more widely for personalized treatment. Because every sequenced genome requires extensive computational resources and generates large amounts of data, the bandwidth and infrastructure requirements are substantial.
To accommodate the customer´s growing volume of data, Zayo will provide a dark fiber connection between the company´s headquarters and data center, along with secure, high-bandwidth wavelength connectivity among satellite offices, headquarters and the data center. The transaction represents one of Zayo´s first major sales in this nascent global market.
Zayo Group Holdings provides communications infrastructure services, including fiber and bandwidth connectivity, colocation and cloud services to the world´s leading businesses.
