Gazprom Neft, S7 Airlines move to blockchain technology in aviation refuelling contracts

Russian-based carrier S7 Airlines has announced it has partnered with state-owned oil company Gazprom Neft to implement blockchain-based smart contracts for aircraft fuelling, the company said.

S7, which has developed several blockchain use cases in the past two years, will now use the technology to increase efficiency of fuel delivery and payment, as well as in the refuelling process at airports.

The partnership features Gazprom Neft´s dedicated aviation refuelling subsidiary Gazpromneft-Aero, which is engaged in aviation refuelling and “wing-tip” sales of aviation fuel.

S7 Airlines (the Siberia Airlines brand) is a member of the oneworld® global aviation alliance. The company operates a wide network of internal flights from its hubs in Moscow (Domodedovo) and Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo). S7 Airlines also operates scheduled flights to countries in the CIS, Europe, the Middle East, South-East Asia and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
