Former Delta SVP returns as chief communications officer

Delta has appointed John E. “Ned” Walker, who served as Delta´s senior vice president and chief communications officer during a period of growth and transition for the company, is returning to Delta in a similar position with increased responsibilities, effective Jan. 1, 2017, the company said.

The company said Walker will join as a member of the Delta leadership committee and will report to chief executive officer Edward H. Bastian.

Walker previously served at Delta from 2008 to 2014 after 25-plus years elsewhere in the airline industry, and upon retiring, continued as a senior advisor to the Delta executive team.

Delta Air Lines serves nearly 180 million customers each year. In 2016, Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 323 destinations in 57 countries on six continents. Headquartered in Atlanta, Delta employs more than 80,000 employees worldwide and operates a mainline fleet of more than 800 aircraft.
