The FedEx Master Executive Council (MEC), the governing body of the FedEx unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int´l (ALPA), voted late yesterday to approve the tentative contract agreement reached on August 19 with FedEx management.
The agreement now goes before more than 4,000 FedEx pilots eligible to vote in balloting that is scheduled to begin September 28, 2015, and close on October 20, 2015.
“After careful consideration and thorough debate, our governing body recognized the value this agreement will bring to our pilots and their families and felt it was in the best interest of our pilots to forward the agreement to them for review,” said MEC chairman Capt. Chuck Dyer.
The new agreement provides across-the-board increases to hourly pay rates and new-hire compensation, a significant signing bonus that addresses the time elapsed since the agreement was amendable, retirement plan enhancements, and work-rule improvements. If ratified, the contract will go into effect November 2015 and would become amendable in 2021.
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents over 52,000 pilots at 31 US and Canadian airlines.
