Ethernet Alliance, TEF 2020 Set Stage for Year Ahead

The Ethernet Alliance, a global consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of Ethernet technologies, has shared its vision of the year ahead for both the organization and Ethernet alike, the company said.

With the installation of a new Chairman, plans for the next Ethernet Alliance Technology Exploration Forum (TEF), and the 40th Anniversary of the IEEE 802™ LAN/MAN Standards Committee, the Ethernet Alliance expects 2020 to be an energetic, productive year.

A notable milestone for the Ethernet Alliance is the induction of a new Chairman, Peter Jones of Cisco Systems, Inc. The former Chair of the NBASE-T Alliance, which merged with the Ethernet Alliance in 2019, and an active member of multiple Ethernet Alliance committees, Jones assumed this latest role in late 2019.

2020 will also play host to TEF 2020: The Next Ethernet Rate, a one-day event focusing on use cases, technology challenges, and other issues surrounding the selection of Ethernet´s next rate. Uniting end users, equipment and component manufacturers, media, and analysts, the interactive forum aims to facilitate discussion and consensus building around the next Ethernet speed.

The Ethernet Alliance is a global consortium that includes system and component vendors, industry experts, and university and government professionals who are committed to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology. The Ethernet Alliance takes Ethernet standards to market by supporting activities that span from incubation of new Ethernet technologies to interoperability demonstrations and education. The organization´s plans for 2019 may be found on the Events page of its website.
