Digi International®, (NASDAQ: DGII) said that the Digi TransPort® WR44 cellular router has been incorporated into the design of the Arrow Electronics Semi-Autonomous Motorcar (SAM), the signature social venture of Arrow Electronics.
The SAM Project is an innovative project in which a 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray car has been modified with integrated advanced electronics and a human-to-machine interface so a qualified quadriplegic driver can safely operate it under racetrack conditions.
Located in the trunk, the Digi TransPort WR44 cellular router is an all-in-one mobile communications solution featuring enterprise-class routing, security and firewall. As part of the SAM Project, the router is used as a 4G LTE gateway for data collection and as a VPN server to allow project designers to dial into the car´s command/control network. Data collection over 4G LTE allows the team to have near real-time visibility to the car´s performance.
Digi International is a mission-critical M2M solutions expert, providing one of the industry´s broadest range of wireless products, a cloud computing platform tailored for devices, and development services to help customers get to market fast with wireless devices and applications.
